Explain it to Me!

Today I was reading in Acts of the story of Philip and the Ethiopian Eunuch. One question jumped out to me like never before-

And Philip… said, Understandest thou what thou readest? (Acts 8:30)

And he said, How can I, except some man guide me? (Acts 8:31a)

How many times has God laid a soul on your heart to witness to and you just couldn’t get the courage up? How many days, or weeks have passed by where your busy schedule caused you to overlook the call to soul win?

If I answer those questions honestly…far too many times! Maybe they don’t have it written on their forehead, they aren’t waving it around on a sign, they aren’t yelling it into an intercom, but the lost are asking that same question!!! “How are we suppose to get this if no one will explain it to us?”

I’ve noticed that today’s Christians sometimes have a few bad habits.

1. Assuming EVERYONE has heard the gospel.

2. Assuming complete strangers are going to know we are Christians and come running to us with pen and paper if they have any questions.

3. Using Christian language when explaining to a NON CHRISTIAN salvation or something Biblical. (Ex. Are you Saved?… saved from what?)

God puts us on the path where the people are… it’s our job to guide them:)

Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus. And as they went on their way, they came into a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.

Acts 8:35-38
